Dr Monique Steen, PhD, MAPS

Monique is a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years experience working in private, public and community mental health settings. Over the years, Monique has provided psychological treatment to adults with a wide range of clinical presentations within outpatient public and inpatient private hospital settings (including on an acute OCD ward), as well as within community mental health settings and private practice. Monique has also provided psychological treatment to children and adolescents with a broad range of presenting problems in community mental health, school settings, and private practice. Monique is also a board-approved clinical supervisor with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and provides clinical supervision to other mental health professionals.

Currently, Monique works extensively with adults and adolescents experiencing Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in private practice. She also provides psychology services to adults and adolescents with a broader range of mental health difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety disorders (generalised anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety)

  • Body focused repetitive behaviours

  • Phobias

  • Tics / Tourette syndrome

  • Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder)

  • Perinatal and postnatal difficulties

  • Adjustment disorder

  • General stress and life transitions

  • Grief and loss

Monique’s approach is warm, collaborative, compassionate, and non-judgemental. Monique provides goal-oriented, outcome driven, and feedback informed psychological treatment, using evidence-based interventions including:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Mindfulness, Acceptance (ACT) and Compassion based therapies

  • Positive Psychology
